Shamir Announces Final Album, Shares Video for New Song “Neverwannago”: Watch

Shamir has announced what he’s calling his final album. Described in press materials as a collection of “songs written by those closest to him, unused demos, and castaways given a new life,” Ten is due this spring via Kill Rock Stars. It’s led by the single “Neverwannago,” which was written by the Portland, Oregon, musician Andrew Harmon, and is out today alongside a Matthew Ober–directed music video featuring August Nandé. Watch it below.

After breaking out, in 2015, with his debut studio album, Ratchet, Shamir spent the ensuing decade continually pushing his sound in new directions, building what he has described as an “anti-career.” His twin lo-fi releases from 2017, Hope and Revelations, were both recorded directly to four-track, while 2020’s self-titled record encompassed folk, country, indie-rock, and dance-pop. Shamir’s latest albums, Heterosexuality and Homo Anxietatem, came out in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
