Jenny Hval has announced a North American tour in support of her upcoming album, Iris Silver Mist, and shared a new song. “The Artist Is Absent” comes in two versions, the studio rendition and an extended mix dubbed “89 Seconds Rewrite.” The latter comes with a video directed by Jenny Merger Myhre, featuring Hval and her collaborator Orfee Schuijt. Check out both tracks below.
After Hval finishes her previously announced European tour this spring, she heads to Los Angeles on September 5 to begin her North American leg. From there, the experimental singer-songwriter stops in San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, Chicago, and Toronto before wrapping up in Brooklyn. Find Hval’s complete list of tour dates below.
Named after a Maurice Roucel fragrance, Iris Silver Mist arrives May 2 via 4AD. The follow-up to 2022’s Classic Objects is led by the single “To Be a Rose,” which also got a Jenny Berger Myhre video. Several of the album’s songs were formed and rehearsed in live settings in 2024 before being recorded, in an effort that Hval said emphasized “the physical and live elements of music.”
