Here are the 101 rock and metal songs with over one billion streams on Spotify.
Over 925 songs representing Spotify’s BILLIONS CLUB playlist, which regularly adds the latest songs that have crossed the one billion stream mark on the popular music streaming platform.
Impressively, rock and metal accounts for more than 10 percent of the songs on the playlist. While, yes, quite a good deal of these songs are 30-plus years old, there’s still a sizable amount from the 21st century. It’s a resounding statement that, despite what Gene Simmons might think, rock is not dead. It’s still alive, thriving and contributing timeless tunes throughout the decades.
There’s actually at least one rock/metal song from each decade since the 1960s with over a billion Spotify streams. One song from the 2020s even crossed the threshold!

Queen and Arctic Monkeys are tied for the most billion-plus streamed songs with a total of five each. Surprisingly, The Beatles — the band who has sold the most albums and compiled the most No. 1 hit songs — have only one. The same can be said for the likes of Van Halen and Pink Floyd, demonstrating how difficult it is to rack up one billion streams. Perhaps it’s because those bands have a litany of top-tier hits rather than a small handful with maximum replay value.
