REVIEW: PARCS – Sleepless – ALTCORNER.com

PARCS released EP Sleepless on May 2 and it’s a dreamy indie pop record.

Pull/Push starts with a dreamy instrumental before Ella Sinnet’s calming melodic tones shine through. The lyrics talk about being pulled closer when trying to push away.

The 80s electro-pop sound shines through more on Red Lines whilst the titular track is probably my favourite with its airy sound and trance-like vocal delivery of lines such as ‘I’m holding you up tonight’.

Lyrically, the EP focuses on mental health struggles that you find in life with chronic pain, which is very much at the forefront of track Fever. The track has a more disjointed vocal delivery but it fits really well with the track’s theme.

Sleepless is a great EP and is one that will be sliding into my regular rotation.

It’s calming but also quite upbeat, has hypnotic vocals and is bringing the 80s synth-electronic sound back with a modern twist.
