With just a week left until her debut album drops, TikTok star turned pop singer Addison Rae has shared one more single from the forthcoming Addison. The synth-pop song “Fame Is a Gun” comes with a grainy music video directed by Sean Price Williams, in which a wig and sunglass-wearing Rae hosts a glamorous dinner party and performs the track flanked by two backup dancers. Watch it below.
For those keeping count, “Fame Is a Gun” is the fifth single off of Addison. Before the LP’s release, on June 6, Rae has shared “Diet Pepsi,” “Aquamarine,” “High Fashion,” and “Headphones On.” The album will follow her debut EP, AR, which came out in August 2023.
“The music is very introspective, kind of a look in the mirror at myself. I think it’s a very optimistic approach to the hard times in life,” Rae said of her album in an interview with Elle. “The sound is very unique. The girls and I who worked on the music together, Luka [Kloser] and Elvria [Anderfjärd], our goal was to challenge ourselves with sounds and also play with sounds that are very intuitive, and the lyrics really guided the production. It started a different way and kind of went somewhere else, but it will definitely be an extension of the worlds that [the singles] showed—but a departure from those as well.”
