Guitarist Steve Gunn has announced a new instrumental album, Music for Writers, which lands on August 15 via Three Lobed. Listen to the first preview of the album, “Slow Singers on the Hill,” below.

Gunn recorded Music for Writers in Brooklyn, New York; Berlin, Germany; and Latvia. The nearly 47-minute album was mixed by Ernie Indridat and mastered by Carl Saff.

Music for Writers is Steve Gunn’s first solo album since 2021’s Other You. Since then, he’s joined with Bing & Ruth’s David Moore for Let the Moon Be a Planet and Live in London; collaborated with John Truscinski on Flam; teamed up with Shahzad Ismaily, Zoh Amba, and Jim White for BeingsThere Is a Garden; and more.
