Watch Wolf Alice’s Video for New Song “The Sofa”

Wolf Alice have released “The Sofa,” the second single from their forthcoming new album, The Clearing. The track’s music video, directed by Fiona Jane Burgess, finds bandleader Ellie Rowsell lounging on a couch that moves across town. Watch it below.

“It’s about not trying so hard to figure everything out, reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonize over things that have or haven’t happened in your life,” Rowswell said of “The Sofa” in a press statement. “It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarizing aspects of one’s life when you’re in a band. You’ve just played a huge tour—and you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa. For me, it’s summed up in how I treat TV. I used to never watch the same thing twice because I thought I’ve got so much to discover! And now I’m like, It’s OK if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the 13th time.”

The Clearing is out August 22. (The album was recently bumped up a week from its original August 29 release date.) The British rock quartet worked on its follow-up to 2021’s Blue Weekend with renowned producer Greg Kurstin. The new album’s lead single, “Bloom Baby Bloom,” arrived in May.

Wolf Alice recently performed at Glastonbury as part of their European tour. They begin a tour of North America in September and have more European shows lined up for November and December.
