Following a sellout performance at Madison Square Garden, Goose announced their 12th annual holiday concert. Goosemas is slated for Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence Rhode Island.
The announcement comes on the heels of the band’s four-hour show at MSG on Saturday, June 28, which blew past curfew and proved a career-defining, watershed moment for the band. This was not just another stop on the tour – it was a statement.
Connecticut Roots and Epic Ascension
The Connecticut indie, jam rock band has been on a steady incline over the past several months catalyzed by a four-show run at the legendary Capitol Theatre in April 2024. During the Capitol Theatre run, Goose introduced their new drummer to the mix, Cotter Ellis; he joined band leader and lead guitarist and vocalist Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach (keys, guitar, vocals), and Trevor Weekz (bass).
The band followed the Capitol Theatre run with their largest show at Forest Hills Stadium last summer.
With Connecticut roots in the shadows of New York City, Goose has long built a dedicated following with their genre-blending jams.
Following the MSG show, Goose joins legendary performers on an elite list, including the Grateful Dead and Phish, setting the tone for a new era.
Goose at MSG: Setting the Tone Early
Goose kicked off the evening in Manhattan with a bang, with a nearly 20 minute “Factory Fiction”, a first-time opener that set the tone for the night, fully embracing the moment. Followed by an 18‑minute fan-favorite “Hungersite,” the energy continued to build with a funky version of “A Western Sun,” which led into a crowd-pleasing Kate Bush cover, “Running Up That Hill.”
Horn Section Live Debut
Goose featured an all‑new horn section with Stuart Bogie (sax), Dave Nelson (trombone), Andrew McGovern (trumpet) to continue in set one, where they finished strong straight from the studio album Everything Must Go. with “Feel It Now,” “Dustin Hoffman,” and “Animal.” The horn section offered a funk-filled sound, one that we expect to see at future shows.
Second Set Bangers
The second set continued the album focus with “Thatch” (21 mins) and an up-beat “Red Bird” that lead into the disco cover of “Don’t Leave Me This Way.” Then, MSG turned into an electronic club scene with an epic “Tumble” into “Creatures” into “Shama Lama Ding Dong”, before circling back into “Tumble,” then into “Jed Stone” and a climactic version of their fan-favorite “Dripfield,” followed by an “Arcadia” encore.
