It has been a couple of months since the release date, but I have had the interesting experience of hearing Begging Guitars by Pleaser.
A punk album, that doesn’t stick to the confines of genre, is possibly extra punk. Mix that with their angry commentary and messy instruments, it’s undeniable. Of course, the tracks are similar and follow seem to follow a template. It works, though. There are obvious sections within the songs.
As much as I enjoy it, I would say the same thing about each song. That it’s energetic, it’s fun and something I would find myself listening to. I like that it’s bass-heavy with the mixing, although the whole thing sounds like it was made for vinyl. Like a classic 70s punk record – which is what I have been enjoying lately. Although it is still modern with its themes, and that’s exciting. Modernity and tradition, you don’t have to pick one.
I may have to purchase my own copy of the record from Pleaser’s Bandcamp. But in the meantime, you should give it a stream. I am, very much, pleased with what I hear.
