Steve Lacy is back with “Nice Shoes,” his first single since 2022. Check out the new song—written and produced by Lacy and released via RCA Records—below.
In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Jeff Ihaza, Lacy called his new song “a ‘trailer’ for this new moment in his career.” Elsewhere in the interview, he discussed a forthcoming new album called Oh Yeah? “This one has taken a lot of time and thought,” he told Ihaza of the self-produced project. “I keep using the word ‘design.’ It feels like fully designing a new language for myself.”
Lacy won a Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album for his sophomore album, Gemini Rights. The 2022 full-length housed the biggest song of Lacy’s career to date, “Bad Habit.”
