On an epic night in Madison, Wisconsin, the Kohl Center came alive as two of the most dynamic bands in the indie music scene, Goose and Mt. Joy, joined forces for an incredible co-headlining performance.
Goose took the stage first, with a 70 minute, 7 song set that featured a blend of new tracks, “Royal,” and classic anthemic jams, “Arcadia.” Mt. Joy took the stage for a 14 song set list, featuring “Sheep,” “Lucy,” and “Silver Lining,” to name a few. The night ended with a banger, three-song encore at the conclusion of Mt. Joy’s set with Goose, featuring an unforgettable version of “Astrovan,” leaving the fans buzzing. This was a collaboration for the ages.
The Mt. Joy Experience Continues to Inspire
After Goose, it was Mt. Joy’s turn to take the stage, and they did not disappoint. Mt. Joy’s sound is a harmonious blend of folk, rock, and a touch of Americana, creating an atmosphere that is both uplifting and introspective. Their songs, often characterized by rich instrumentation and heartfelt storytelling, resonate with a wide audience. They have an uncanny knack for crafting relatable narratives that speak to the heart, making every performance a shared experience between the band and their fans. Mt. Joy is continuously leveling up, gaining new fans at every stop. With nearly 6 million streams a month on Spotify, Mt. Joy is entering yet another sweet spot in their elevation.

Goose Takes Flight on Fall Tour
The Connecticut-based indie, groove band has been on a steady incline over the past year catalyzed by a four-show run at the legendary Capitol Theatre in April 2024. During the Capitol Theatre run, Goose introduced their new drummer to the mix, Cotter Ellis; he joined band leader and lead guitarist and vocalist Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach (keys, guitar, vocals), and Trevor Weekz (bass).
The band followed the Capitol Theatre run with their largest show at Forest Hills Stadium last summer, then reached their most prolific milestone, selling out Madison Square Garden in June.
Following the MSG show, Goose released yet another album, Chain Yer Dragon, and now has launched into a robust fall tour, starting in Burlington, VT, where I had the opportunity to witness their blast-off into another dimension, paired with a radiant sunset.
The first set highlight was the “Rockdale” jam that was dark, fast, and tight. Second set was one for the ages, with jam-heavy versions of “Arrow,” and “Thatch,” with a stellar encore featuring “Tumble” into “Shama Lama Ding Dong,” then back into “Tumble.”
Mt. Joy and Goose are two of the hottest live acts to add to your list. Their heartfelt storytelling, coupled with their epic live show atmosphere and light show, leave fans vibing.
