Cage the Elephant, known for their energetic performances and eclectic sound, is coming off a round of summer shows opening for Oasis, and now on their own US tour, where I had the opportunity to see them live at the legendary Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York.

The live show experience is kinetic, where the crowd hangs on every word, every emotion, and pure contagious and abundant vibes. In addition, their new album Neon Pill is out now, gaining momentum, and was recently nominated for a Grammy. The band formed in 2006 in Kentucky, then re-located to London in 2008, and on their incredible run have won two Grammys for best album and are still red hot.
The Live Show Experience is Straight Fire
Cage the Elephant is known for their electrifying live performances, epic light shows, and next-level energy, which have played a significant role in their rise to fame. Lead singer, Matt Shultz’s charismatic stage presence, combined with the band’s unique and roaring sound, is nothing short of intense and inspiring. The energy is raw, and Shultz dances, jumps around on stage, leveling up the crowd with peaks throughout.
From deep guitar solos to guitar smashing on-stage. The band is comprised of brothers Matt Shultz (vocals) and Brad Shultz (rhythm guitar) along with Daniel Tichenor (bass), Jared Champion (drums), Nick Bockrath (lead guitar), and Matthan Minster (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). Cage the Elephant’s live show experience is nothing short of a ten out of ten from an energy and creativity, with truly authentic and pure vibes from start to finish.
A Closer Look at Neon Pill and Other Work
Neon Pill, released in May of 2024, is a mix of alternative rock and psychedelic sounds that demonstrates that the band is nothing short of innovative and consistent.
This is their first new music release since their album, Social Cues, which won Best Rock album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. The album showcases the band’s signature energy and introspective lyrics, with standout tracks such as “Over Your Shoulder,” “HiFi (True Light),” and “Metaverse” that blend catchy melodies, a diversity of sounds, and their rich creativity and connection.
Since 2008, the band has released six studio albums: Cage the Elephant (2008); Thank You, Happy Birthday (2011; Melophobia (2013); Tell Me I’m Pretty (2015); Social Cues (2019); and Neon Pill (2024)
Their two most well-know tracks of “Cigarette Daydreams” and “Come a Little Closer” were both on Melophobia, and the most epic way to close out their live show.
