Jonny Greenwood, Max Richter Nominated for Best Original Score at 2026 Oscars

The 2026 Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score have been announced. In the running this year are Jerskin Fendrix (for Bugonia), Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein), Max Richter (Hamnet), Jonny Greenwood (One Battle After Another), and Ludwig Göransson (Sinners). Daniel Lopatin’s excellent Marty Supreme score was snubbed. The winner will be announced on Sunday, March 15, at the 98th annual awards ceremony, set to take place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater and air live on ABC.

The shortlist, revealed back in December, featured 20 potential nominees, including other scores that failed to make the cut from Nine Inch Nails (Tron: Ares), Bryce Dessner (Train Dreams), and Hans Zimmer (F1). The 2025 Academy Award for Best Original Score went to Daniel Blumberg, for his work on Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist.
