Miss Grit Announces New Album Under My Umbrella, Shares Video for “Stranger”

Miss Grit’s next album is coming this year. Announced today (January 27), Under My Umbrella is out April 24 on Mute. The New York-based artist—aka Margaret Sohn—has also shared a new song, “Stranger,” which they produced with their longtime engineer, Aron Kobayashi Ritch of Momma. You can check out a video for it below.

Sohn first teased their new record back in 2025, when they shared the song “Tourist Mind” alongside another music video. They made the bulk of Under My Umbrella in their apartment in Queens, working with artists like mmph, Margaux, and mui zyu‘s Eva Liu and Luciano Rossi.

“I tried not to edit too much or force a moment to happen,” Sohn said of the album in a statement. “It feels truer to myself, and more of a representation of what is actually coming out of me.”

Sohn released their debut record, the self-produced Follow The Cyborg, in 2023. A concept album following a non-human machine on its journey to “awareness and liberation,” it drew inspiration from science fiction films including Her, Fallen Angels, and Ghost in the Shell. Before that, they also shared an EP, Impostor, in 2021.
