Watch Charlie Puth Sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX

Charlie Puth was tasked with performing the national anthem at Super Bowl LX tonight, February 8. He took the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, alongside a choir dressed in all white and a small orchestra, to sing “The Star Spangled Banner.” He accompanied himself on a Rhodes keyboard. He was styled by Jack Antonoff, in denim jeans and a tan leather jacket.

Ahead of kickoff, Brandi Carlile also performed an acoustic rendition of “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing” backed by two cellists and six violinists. Green Day opened the festivities with a medley of hits including “Holiday” and “American Idiot,” although they omitted the more political portions of both songs, including a verse on “American Idiot” that critiques the “redneck agenda.” Later this evening, Bad Bunny will play the official Super Bowl halftime show. Watch Puth, Carlile, and Jones’ performances below.

Last year’s Super Bowl pregame performers included Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle, and Ledisi. Lady Gaga also took to the streets of New Orleans to play “Hold My Hand,” her original song from Top Gun: Maverick. During his halftime show, Kendrick Lamar brought out the likes of SZA, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson.
