The Field Announces First Project in Eight Years

Axel Willner’s the Field is back. Now You Exist, his first album since 2018’s Infinite Moment, arrives May 15 through Studio Barnhus. The Swedish producer’s new record hovers around 40 minutes and features five songs of meditative ambient techno and drone.

Based in Berlin, Willner produces under several aliases—including Lars Blek, Hands, and Loops of Your Heart—yet he is best known for his work as the Field, which he started in 2003. In the eight years since his last album, Willner has kept busy self-releasing music on Bandcamp under his full name. In a press statement, he described his most recent album, 2024’s COMMUNICATION pt. 1-7, as musical fragments “recorded in the studio with a mobile phone throughout the past 10 years.”
