Julia Jacklin Readies New Album The Gem

Julia Jacklin has announced a new album, The Gem. The Australian singer-songwriter will share the Pre Pleasure follow-up on September 25 via her new label, 4AD. Below, listen to the first single “Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon).”

“I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life,” Jacklin said in press materials.“The Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.”

The Gem is titled after a pub and live music venue in Melbourne, where Jacklin moved from Sydney in 2017. She and her band recorded the album in a hotel room-turned-studio space located right above the bar. Jacklin will tour The Gem across North America and Europe from October through early 2027.
