No Joy Announces Big Life, Big Leaf EP, Shares Title Track

No Joy’s Jasamine White-Gluz has reunited with producer Angel Marcloid, aka Fire-Toolz, for a companion EP to last year’s Bugland. The three-track Big Life, Big Leaf is out on August 21 via Hand Drawn Dracula. Watch a trippy video for the new-agey, shoegaze-y title track, co-written with longtime collaborator Jorge Elbrecht, below.

“This was a demo I had that we never got around to during the Bugland sessions,” White-Gluz said of “Big Life, Big Leaf” in a press statement. “I was exploring the boundless pain one feels when it is time to say goodbye to someone or something. It is also during those moments that it is important to remember, ironically, to have joy. To mourn is also to celebrate.”

Bugland marked No Joy’s fifth LP and follow-up to 2020’s Motherhood. Last month, Marcloid shared the Fire-Toolz album Lavender Networks, her debut for Warp Records.
