Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her Unraveled Tour this weekend with two back-to-back nights at Hartford, Connecticut’s PeoplesBank Arena. Accompanied by opener Wolf Alice, Rodrigo ran through the tragic love story at the heart of her acclaimed third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love, and sprinkled in some older hits and deeper cuts for good measure. Rodrigo opened the show with You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love’s opening song and lead single, “Drop Dead,” which she began singing while lying down amid a field of pink flowers set up onstage. Although she switched up some of the album’s sequencing, she largely followed You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love’s journey from starry-eyed romance into painful separation. She mixed in her most recent release, The Handmaids Tale-inspired “Serena Joy,” which she debuted last month at her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields music festival.
She also performed a number of tracks from her other two albums, Sour and Guts, including her breakout hit “Driver’s License,” “Traitor,” “Vampire,” “Good 4 U,” “Favorite Crime,” and “Bad Idea Right?” Rodrigo closed out Night One with a three-song encore consisting of “Deja Vu,” “All-American Bitch,” and “Expectations.”
Rodrigo will continue the North American leg of her tour over the next few months with shows in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, and more. Next year, she’ll also play three ten-night residencies: one at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, one at New York’s Barclays Center, and one at London’s O2 Arena.
